I'm actually somewhat agnostic as to keeping information private online - Robert Scoble (http://www.scobleizer.com) says he gets stick from people for publishing his cellphone number online, yet he doesn't seem to get any prank calls or whatever. As he says "If I'm open, I'll take the call". I've friends-locked my LJ for ages, but I don't know why really - I've never put up any *really* private info like bank card numbers... *shrugs*
